Afterburner Decals was founded in 2005 by
Mike Reeves and Scott Brown and is the result of a lifelong
passion for military aviation and building models. It is
managed by Scott Brown and Geoff Martin with the assistance of
artist Shawn Hull.
Scott Brown
lives in Houston, Texas and works as a
Firefighter/Paramedic. He and his wife Tracy have a daughter,
Reagan.
Geoff Martin
lives is Burtonsville, Maryland and works in the adult beverage
industry as an area manager. He attended the University of Maryland
and majored in art.
We noticed
more and more that we were disappointed in the selection of both
contemporary and past era jet subjects available in the market
today. After many phone calls about it, we have created this little
labor of love to provide you, the modeler, with a wide range of
interesting subjects to fuel your own passion for military jets.
We are avid
modelers, and as "one of you" understand what we as consumers like
in the products that we buy ourselves, and try our best to produce
them for you.
One of our main goals and founding principles
is to listen to our customers and give them what they want. Neither
of us considers ourselves "experts" and we will always rely on the
people that we know now, and the ones that we hope to get to know in
the future to provide us with inspiration and guidance. We want to
make the best decals money can buy, and to do so, we need reference.
Both of us have shot hundreds of pictures of jets, and have
collected many thousands more. If you have a subject that you are
passionate about, get us the refs and maybe your passion will infect
us as well!
We are always on the prowl for new subjects, and since there are way
more of you than there are of us, the vast majority of our reference
comes from the outside, especially from a dedicated group of
professional photographers who keep us in mind when they go on photo
trips and allow us to use their labors. We'd also like to acknowlege
the assistance we recieve from the fantastic folks in the military.
You'll notice more often than not that the names on the "Special
Thanks" sections on the sheet instructions are the same ones on the
sides of the jets. This makes maintaining the level of accuracy we
strive for possible. Without this kind of help, the task of
researching the subjects becomes exceedingly difficult.
Alright
then....let’s build some
jets!
